Is GAPS a non-profit?

Yes, GAPS became an official non-profit 501(c)3 in 2012 and focuses on offering suport to our members and their caregivers as they learn to cope with the challenges and obstacles of living with PD.

Where is the event & where do I go?

The walk takes place at Fluor Field at the West End. You will use the Markley and Main St. entrance.

Registration

Do I have to register to walk?

No! You can register the day of the event or just come out to walk and support.

Is there a registration fee?

No, registration is free!

Donations

Can I mail in my donation?

Yes, we gratefully accept donations via regular mail. Please mail your donations to:

Greenville Area Parkinson Society PO Box 2663
Greenville, SC 29602

If I make a donation, how will my money be used?

It will be used in a variety of ways, specifically through further developing programs such as Peer Support Groups, YMCA Peddling Classes and educating both patients and caregivers of PD.

In addition to supporting our only paid staff person, the Executive Director, monies are used to grow awareness through advertising, sponsor social events, provide venues for support group meetings, and bring in excellent educational speakers. With increased funding, GAPS is planning to create a 24-hour hotline for members, offer greater educational opportunities and instruction for the spouses and care partners, and continue to be a voice within the medical community as we support the growth of the Centers that will more effectively meet the needs of our members.

Teams

How many people should be on my team?

There is no limit for a team. As long as you set a team goal, anything is game.

What responsibilities does a team captain have?

The captain is responsible for encouraging team members to meet the team's fundraising goal.

Walk Day

How long is the route?

The walk will take place on the warning track of the Drive Stadium at Fluor Field.

Where do I park?

Free parking will be availble at C. Dan Joyner, Realtors by the Field St. entrance.

Volunteer Opportunities

How do I get involved?

There are many opportunities to become involved with GAPS as a volunteer throughout the year! We are always looking for extra hands to get our message of support out to more people. For starters, we encourage you to consider participating in the walk on April 22 and get sponsors to support your team.

If you wish to be a GAPS volunteer for this event or other events and programs, please contact our office at 864-905-2574 or online at info@gapsonline.org
